What Steph Love This Month – September 2024

What a month September has been! It’s been packed with inspiration, collaboration, and some truly incredible experiences.

First up, I had the honour of attending the Nourish Awards alongside the talented team from Bunch London and Ana. It was a night filled with innovation and creativity in the world of health and wellness, and the free-from food products blew me away. The dedication to reimagining health through nutrition was so inspiring and energising.

Another exciting highlight was receiving an invitation from my old Capita colleague, Yasmin Taylor, to give a talk at EY. The talk focused on Enhancing Critical Thinking and Inclusion in today’s fast-paced, diverse world. It was such an honour to share my insights on collaborative intelligence and how neurodivergent and neurotypical minds can work together to generate breakthrough solutions. The feedback from the audience was incredibly motivating, and it reminded me how important it is to create environments where critical thinking can thrive. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues like Yasmin, especially when it’s about sharing ideas that I’m so passionate about.

This month has also deepened my connection with the Grimsby community. I became a patron of Business Hive, through HAM Agency, and I’m excited to support more local businesses as they continue to grow. Grimsby is brimming with opportunity, and my tour of Grimsby Town Football Club, where I met CEO Polly Bancroft, gave me a unique perspective on the role that sport plays in the community’s future. It’s so much more than just football, it’s about bringing people together and creating positive social change.

From there, I had the chance to visit MyEnergi, an incredible company leading the way in sustainability. Thanks, Pete Cox! Their new, cutting-edge building is more than impressive—it’s a vision of how green energy can truly shape the future. Seeing businesses like these thrive in Grimsby is exciting because it’s proof that innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.

And, of course, I can’t talk about what I’ve been up to without mentioning CatZero, an inspiring charity doing transformative work in Grimsby. I attended one of their events last week, with Beyond Food and The Great Escape, and I was truly moved by the dedication they have to changing people’s lives. Thank you to Wynne Griffiths for the invitation, and  Adrian and Pete, with you at the helm, CatZero’s in safe hands. It was an honour to be introduced to newly reelected Melanie Onn MP and the esteemed Councillor Steve Beasant, Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, also in attendance. They’re giving hope and opportunity to those who need it most, and it’s a cause I’m proud to support. Their efforts align so closely with values of creating opportunities and empowering the next generation. It’s been a month of exciting connections, learning and opening up to new opportunities and I can’t wait to see what October brings!
